DAY 10 - SATURDAY
TAMPOPATA LODGE - local hike and rest
8 of the 12 of us went on a trip to another lake which meant another 5am start. The other 4 of us had a leisurely start to the day instead. I got up at 8am and missed breakfast! So I grabbed a few bananas off the bunch in the lobby to keep me going and in case I saw any monekys! Kelso, Wayne and Phil relaxed in the Lodge while I went on a 5km/3 hour amble on one of the lodge trails on my own. It was bliss - very peaceful but I still didn't see any monkeys or birds! The usual fungi, butterflies, ants, beetles. No spiders! But I did see a caimen about 100m from the start of the walk - and that was the most excitement for the day!
Ant 'hills and giant ant

Various vegetation
This is when the path got rather less trodden
The red dot marks where I am having walked 2km up the central vertical 'Trail 3' from the lodge
the path started disappearing
and at this point I gave up and walked back and along a different route

Lunch. The rest of the group have been on a morning hike to Lake Condenado.
Spent the afternoon with Lynda in the hut who was ill. She made a spectacular recovery about 6pm and we went for a short walk into the rainforest to try and spot the caimen I saw earlier
Tracey and Charlotte in the hammock on our hut porch
the rest of the group have been celebrating the end of the trip (again)
the world's starting to look pear shaped for some of them......
Hey - Lynda made it to dinner!
